This position is responsible for teaching courses for Chamberlain College of Nursing. The Instructor provides classroom and/or clinical teaching, academic advising, and committee work in the nursing programs. Service to the College, community, health system, and profession, and scholarly activities are integral aspects of this position

Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through classroom, clinical teaching, and service to the College, community, health system and profession. Develops curricular/teaching innovations in the annual preparation and revision of all assigned course(s). Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads. Participates in academic advisement and counseling for an assigned group of students while participating in assessment of potential and real counseling concerns for all students with whom the faculty come into contact. Plans clinical experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals. Supervises and evaluates clinical preceptors utilized in student clinical experiences. Makes self available to staff at clinical agencies where students are present. Evaluates and provides documented feedback to student on level of performance based on course objectives. Assists with remediation of students as required or needed. Maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel. Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency and individual learning needs. Corrects and returns homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely manner. Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College. Works with college administration, staff and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates. Participates in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and both departmental and campus policies. Provides recommendations to the nursing administration regarding purchasing needs for the college. Serves as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism. Utilizes relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation. Demonstrates T-E-A-C-H values in work performed and interactions with other faculty, staff and students. Demonstrates scholarship through the following activities: academic course work; active involvement in implementation of teaching, service, professional practice, or research projects; or formal publication in scholarly works related to nursing and/or education or presentations to professional audiences. A faculty member at the rank of Instructor begins to assume leadership within the College by accepting or initiating, as part of the workload, responsibility for activities such as: Developing leadership skills through formal course work or continuing education. Gathering and analyzing data related to the College Assessment Program. Participating in activities outside the College. Serving on a College Committee. Serving as course coordinator . . Complies with all applicable regulatory rules and standards. Handles related duties as assigned.
